This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our Platform, create an account, search for contractors, list services as a contractor, or otherwise interact with our marketplace. Please read this policy carefully. By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the Platform.
We collect information in a variety of ways when you interact with our Platform. The information we collect falls into the following categories:
When you create an account on Ratedeed, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and a password. For homeowners, we may collect your home address or project location, project descriptions, budget ranges, and preferred timelines. For contractors, we collect additional information during our verification process, including business name, business license number, trade certifications, insurance documentation, tax identification numbers, years of experience, areas of service, portfolio photos, and references. When you submit a review, we collect your rating, written feedback, and any photos or media you choose to attach. When you communicate through our Platform, we may collect the content of messages exchanged between homeowners and contractors.
When you access or use the Platform, we automatically collect certain information about your device and usage. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type and identifiers, pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, click patterns, and search queries entered on our Platform. We use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, and similar technologies to collect this information. For more details, please see our Cookie Policy.
We may receive information about you from third-party sources. When you sign up or log in using a social media account (such as Google or Facebook), we receive the profile information you authorize the service to share with us. We may also receive information from background check providers used during contractor verification, payment processors when you make or receive payments through our escrow system, and public records or databases to verify contractor credentials. If you link your Platform account to third-party services, we may receive information from those services as permitted by your authorization and their terms.
When you make or receive payments through the Platform, we collect certain financial data necessary to facilitate transactions through our escrow payment system. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers; instead, payment card data is processed and stored by our PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. We do store transaction records, billing addresses, and payment method types for dispute resolution, tax compliance, and record-keeping purposes.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
When you use the Platform as a homeowner, your profile information (name, location, and project details) may be shared with contractors who are matched with your project. When you use the Platform as a contractor, your business profile (name, trade, service area, ratings, reviews, portfolio, and verified credentials) is visible to homeowners browsing the Platform. Review content you post is visible to other users.
We share information with trusted third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf. These include payment processors for handling escrow transactions, background check providers for contractor verification, cloud hosting providers for storing data, analytics providers for understanding Platform usage, email service providers for sending communications, and customer support platforms. These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and may only use it to provide the services we have engaged them to perform.
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, in response to a valid legal request (such as a subpoena, court order, or government inquiry), or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, user information may be transferred as part of such transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the Platform before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so, such as when you authorize us to share your project details with a specific contractor or when you opt in to share information with a partner for a promotional offer.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information. We aim to honor all applicable rights, including but not limited to:
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@ratedeed.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days (or such shorter period as required by applicable law). We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. Please note that certain information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, even after a deletion request.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (note: we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols (TLS/SSL and AES-256), secure authentication with password hashing and two-factor authentication options, regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, access controls that limit employee access to personal information on a need-to-know basis, and monitoring and logging of system activity for anomalous behavior. Despite our best efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
The Platform is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under 18 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at info@ratedeed.com. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information from our servers as promptly as possible.

These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country of residence. When we transfer personal information internationally, we use appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection. By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, by providing a more prominent notice (such as a banner on the Platform or an email notification). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
